Real Estate Terminology
Florida Real Estate Agent
Unlike many countries in the world, Florida Real Estate Agents are required by Florida Law to be licensed. In order to obtain a license, the agent must complete an approved training course and pass a state exam in Real Estate Priciples, Practices, and Law. Furthermore, licensees must then undergo continuous education and professional development throughout their real estate career. The Florida Real Estate commission, which operates within the Department of Business & Professional Regulation, oversees this profession.
As a Broker Associate, I am required by Florida Real Estate Law to provide representation that includes the following duties:
1. Dealing honestly and fairly
2. Accounting for all funds
3. Using skill, care and diligence in every transaction
4. Disclosing all known facts that materially affect the value of property and are not readily observable to the buyer.
5. Presenting all offers and counteroffers in a timely manner, unless a party has previously directed the licensee otherwise in writing.
6. Limited confidentiality, unless waived by a party.
7. Any additional duties that are entered into by written agreement.
